Heading to #apple this morning to get some M1 computers unlocked after getting them back from former employees. We need to rethink how we setup computers for employees now. This is a major hassle.
@Gshocker It’s amazing how Apple refuses to consider how these devices need to be managed in an enterprise environment.
@kevingamin Aftwr an unsuccessful trip to #apple we found a link to a form that hopefully gets #apple to unlock the activation and let us wipe the unit. This is certainly getting us to rethink employee computers.
@Gshocker My company has an iMac Pro that is basically a paperweight because the employee who set it up used his own Apple ID and is no longer with the company. They also can’t find the proof of purchase because they don’t know what email it was sent to/ordered under. We might need that form as our last resort, otherwise that’s $3000 wasted.
@kevingamin That form requires you to send a picture of the receipt. I have my fingers crossed that we don’t have 3 paperweights. Another fun thing is none of these employees turned in the chargers.. I did see some links that talked about some way around this in certain situations. One video- https://youtu.be/C_JLkLqbpv4
