Any other Attorney general would’ve indicted Donald trump by now.
@DeanObeidallah they chose them with care, didn't they
@DeanObeidallah that's too hyperbolic. Considering how flawed the US justice system is (see the Rittenhouse case), DOJ needs to make sure that it has all the evidence for him to be actually convicted. If he gets acquitted, then what?
@aristeon @DeanObeidallah There is risk in every action. It’s not acquittal that DOJ is afraid of, it’s the threat of violence from the far right supporters. That’s probably an unwritten threat that Trump has a dog whistle to call for.
@aristeon @DeanObeidallah Theory: was North Carolina power grid attack a rehearsal or perhaps a warning to DOJ? Was there a message that was not publicly made aware? Just a theory.
@aristeon @DeanObeidallah it does look like Garlands first impulse was not to pursue the investigation at all to preserve the ideal of a "non-political" DOJ but that he was prodded into it by the J6 committee - losing a year. But now it is just a matter of time.
@aristeon @DeanObeidallah garland had an agreement to leave the gop officials alone and they would support his nomination.
