In the past 24 hours, Ukrainians have been been blocked from signing up for Twitter using their phone numbers and using 2FA and accounts tracking Russian oligarchs' jets have been suspended.

What happens on Twitter can seem like a sideshow, but Elon Musk's actions are a direct threat to democracy.

@MeidasTouch You are wrong, #twitter is a private company, and has no connection to democracy. People who rely on a private company should seek out a better means for communications.
@SammyGalen @MeidasTouch Private companies supply you with electricity, oil to heat your home, and food for nourishment. Americans rely on those to survive. Are you saying we shouldn’t rely on private companies?
@GTinNC @SammyGalen @MeidasTouch
It is a very powerful argument for the state taking back control of all assets. If corporations and wealthy individuals, lionised by "freedumbers" are not in any way part of the improvement of the democracies they flourish in, then they cannot be surprised when collective action wants to take them down. Our soil. Our lives. Our rules.
@MeidasTouch @SammyGalen @Compassiinat_Downsizer We also need to take back America’s largest oil refinery in Texas that is owed by Saudi Arabia. They are literally pumping oil from our soil and selling it back to us at record profits. That doesn’t include the $20+ billion American taxpayers give oil companies annually.
