George Orwell’s “1984” is one of the most popular fiction downloads in Russia this year. It’s about time that the Russian people understand how Putin has morphed into Big Brother over the last twenty years. And maybe the Russian people can read “We” by one of their very own, Yevgeny Zamyatin. “We” set the stage for Orwell’s “1984”.
@AKB I'm rereading Le Carre's "Smileys People" published in 1979 and curiously, there is a Soviet leader emerging in the story whose name is Pudin. In 1979 Putin was in KGB school. Le Carre served in the UK's national information service. Weird, huh?
