In the past 24 hours, Ukrainians have been been blocked from signing up for Twitter using their phone numbers and using 2FA and accounts tracking Russian oligarchs' jets have been suspended.

What happens on Twitter can seem like a sideshow, but Elon Musk's actions are a direct threat to democracy.

@MeidasTouch Which Is why I don't believe what's happening to Twitter is purely due to his incompetence. He seems to be a puppet for rather more sinister forces who consider any money lost to be well spent.

@anarchic_teapot @MeidasTouch He's only a puppet in the sense that – in his cravings for adulation (in the same way as tR***) – he listens to the manipulative, power-hungry people in his inner circle. Other than that, he's just a terrible & cruel human, w/ more money & power than any individual should have.

You know Saudi Arabia still has a stake in Twitter, right? And I'll bet they're not the only dodgy source of finance.
