Last night we watched a short animation movie called "the Street of Crocodiles" by the Quay brothers. The whole thing feels like an old distressed sculpture brought to life, I highly recommend it.

All along I kept being reminded of the videoclip for Closer by NIN, turns out it was one of the big influences behind it's aesthetics!
@ritualdust "Oddly distressed" is the tamest description of the Quay Brothers I've ever read.
@ritualdust Have you watched MAD GOD yet?
@dualhammers no i haven't! but it's on my list :)
@ritualdust
that looks great :) I also really enjoyed original book "The Street of Crocodiles" by Schulz, very much recommend it. Maybe not as much surrealist as the animation but it's close.
@mayaks nice! i'll add it to my list :)
@ritualdust I absolutely love this short animation movie! I was lucky enough to watch it when I was 20 or so - I'm 36 now - and I became OBSESSED with the aesthetics, the textures, and the music. I even dreamt of that music, it really pierced my heart, and still does when I remember it today. I started hunting for short films from them, but this one always remained my favorite.
@ritualdust
They also have a movie called "Institute Benjamenta" with real actors that is strangely beautiful and weird too in a good way. I really liked it, and I've loved the main actress since I saw her there 🖤
