Just sayin' @W_Lucht
@Andy_Scollick @W_Lucht whats your suggestion? It seems like nothing is working
@JustABoringUser The whole point is that social movements require strategy, which is a distillation of collective thought born of discussion and openness to guidance from those with parallel of not direct experience of what works (and doesn't) in other social movements. The climate movement needs to learn the basics: organisation, discipline, 'war' aims, doctrine and planning. That's how to succeed (peacefully through non-violent policy and action). @W_Lucht

Let me just say that the members of the civil disobedience climate protest movement that I've talked to were extremely reflected, educated and thoughtful. I have always advocated firming broad coalitions but that requires respect for each other across the board. Personally I suspect the general effectiveness of these protests - which are born of desperation - is a function of the state's form of response.
@W_Lucht @JustABoringUser With respect, being "reflected, educated and thoughtful" is not the same thing as strategic thinking, foresight and planning, let alone strategic organisation and implementation (the 'martial' business end). Activists versus the state is exactly how the Establishment wants the movement to be portrayed: easier to smear, isolate, undermine, neuter and disintegrate. There are case studies (Euromaidan, Hong Kong etc) from which we can learn to be more effective.
