It's meant to put down anyone well educated, tolerant, empathetic, concerned for social justice for marginalized peoples, climate change and bodily autonomy. Absurd, yes, but that doesn't matter. The basis of gaslighting is projection and it's meant to distract, deflect and disorient.

@JillianMHurley @CatMomDo @ttussing Antisemites have turned it into a pejorative dog whistle when they pull out the tropes that Jews rule banking, the media, the world, etc. A good example is that the far right always refers to George Soros, an unbelievably rich banker who pours philanthropic funds into progressive causes, as “cosmopolitan.” (2/2)
