Wow, this would be a huge shift if it pans out. The nature of the App Store has been one of Apple’s biggest vulnerabilities and the point of a lot of criticism from developers. Opening to third parties would change the entire landscape. @dmoren This is HUGE news if even some of this is accurate.

I know lots in this community want 3rd party app store availability, but I would also be happy with just true 3rd party browser availability.

@dmoren The chatter about this is going to be something else between now and the time it happens.
@dmoren The big issue will be maintaining security when Apple no longer can vet the software. It will be interesting how much access outside apps get.
