@kendraserra @mmasnick This reminds me of a client I once had who was appealing his conviction for being a drug kingpin. Among his many problems was the fact that the feds had him on wiretap loudly telling his co-conspirators that "I am a drug kingpin!"
(We lost our appeal).

People always say it's unrealistic how villains explain their plans in movies. But really, it happens all the time.

People who knew nothing about FTX knew that cryptocurrency is a scam.
Kind of like alchemy. Newton likely caused his own death from lead poisoning while trying to turn lead into gold. Plenty of his contemporaries avoided similar deaths by noticing how idiotic many of the arguments of alchemy were (e.g. wanting infinite gold/life doesn't make you greedy)
