Think of it this way. If the head of NASA publicly said the kind of garbage that Musk says every day, how long would he still have that job? Or if the CEO of Boeing tweeted that toxic hate, how long would he stay in his position? The government is going to have to cut ties with Musk sooner or later, unless he completely changes his current behavior for the better which seems unlikely in the extreme. The only question is how long the contracting agencies can keep sweeping Musk's toxicity under the rug. With every toxic public tweet, Musk makes that more difficult to continue.

@lauren eh wrt SpaceX contracts theres no one else to provide the service they do.

Probably no provision in government contracts for the political views of individuals running companies either.

Remember NASA hired a literal Nazi to build their rockets.

@Rjdlandscapes Yes, I've already talked about WvB. But that was a different time, with much more controlled media, and WvB built rockets and didn't spout toxic political philosophy every day. NASA has to know that either they're going to have to find an alternative to SpaceX eventually, or get Musk out. Eventually the government ethics rules for contracting will be impossible to ignore.

@lauren Musk owns half of SpaceX theres no getting him out.

Boeing so far cant launch people to space, despite trying multiple times, and only have 6 rockets to do so anyhow

No one else has launch capacity for ISS service or people, or sats

No one else can hope to make a HLS for Artemis this decade

In fact NASA have recently increased flights to ISS and HLS contracts with SpaceX

@Rjdlandscapes Sooner or later, it has to happen. Musk seems to be going full blown fascist, and the government will not be able to keep working with him under these conditions. The timeline and how this happens exactly are unpredictable, but Musk himself is making sure that the status quo will be untenable. Watch and see.

@lauren yeah I guess we will see.

I wonder if he will still be CEO of Tesla in a years time, thats his most vulnerable position
