Repeat COVID Infection Doubles the Risk of Death

I am a layman, but is that factor of 4 in hospitalization risk really seen in hospitals these days? I hear of Covid reinfections left and right this autumn, and vaccine severe disease efficacies dropping to 50% in recent ONS data.

Yet the hospitals stay open, strained, but not completely overrun.
