Dear ones,
It's that time of year, I know. Everyone is sending their fundraising letters. Here's mine - and it's a twofer.

The incoming Israeli government is a direct threat to the liberal, creative, meaningful Judaism that we all hold dear. The Israeli Reform Movement and the Israel Religious Action Center have been at the forefront of protecting the rights of halachically challenged Jews in Israel. /1

Whether obtaining rights for LGBTQ+ couples and their children, rights of Jewish Immigrants from the FSU and of non-Jewish refugees and asylum seekers, these organizations have been vital. We are the face of liberal Judaism for thousands of Israelis who seek freedom from the Orthodox Rabbinate in weddings and other lifecycle rituals, and provide religious services for members in our congregations throughout the country.

Rabbis for Human Rights was founded by Israeli Reform Rabbis who wanted to be even more aggressive in the protection of human rights in Israel and in the occupied Palestinian Territories. It has grown to be one of the most influential NGOs in its sphere. /4

RHR knows how to multiply our impact - from organizing Jewish and international volunteers to protect the Palestinian Olive Harvest in the fall and accompanying Palestinian shepherds in the Jordan Valley to lobbying the Knesset - EVEN IN THE CURRENT ATMOSPHERE - to enact JUST welfare laws, to encode in law the concept that Nutrition is a human right, and to encourage interparty cooperation to end hunger and poverty.
