Two fascinating history/archaeology books I’m reading now

1. The Horse, the Wheel, and Language: How Bronze-Age Riders from the Eurasian Steppes Shaped the Modern World -by David W. Anthony
2. Who We Are and How We Got Here: Ancient DNA and the new science of the human past - by David Reich

#history #archaeology #genetics #linguistics

@anandmallaya Reich's book is excellent. Although he's a bit self-centered in his approach, it does provide reasons to understand why Svante Paabo received the Nobel Price in medicine this year. #genetics
@bjcochrane yes! I literally had goosebumps reading about the Neanderthals.. It is not a scientific paper but a book and, consequentially, opinionated. So I typically read them with a pinch of salt. But the overall attempt is commendable.
@anandmallaya Good point. I read it shortly after I retired from teaching Genetics and Evolution. Were I still active, it is certainly a book I would use in undergraduate classes.
