When asked why he robbed banks, he replied “That’s where the money is.” Money aside, if you are a journalist or activist or academic or NASA trying to get a message out, birdsite is still where the eyeballs are. Let’s keep growing the Fediverse and they’ll come. It may take a while.
Ertain@dgoldsmith Not only is it going to take a while, but we need to push the #Fediverse more. Someone with many resources needs to advertise this platform, and we need to make it more enticing to the average person.

Easier self instance hosting is key here. Many people may want to move to the fediverse but be reluctant to join an instant owned by some other party.
