Hey #bookstodon ! I'm reading Stranger in a Strange Land by Robert A. Heinlein - I'm about a third of the way through and enjoying it so far. Have really delved into some classic #scifi in the past year, but any recommendations for some modern SciFi reads that may not be on my radar?

@KKR let’s see… I always liked The Moon is a Harsh Mistress by Robert Heinlein and Starship Troopers as well for my “classic” sci-fi.

For newer sci-fi, I’ve enjoyed a lot of Andy Weir’s books including the Martian and Artemis. John Stakeley’s Armor is fantastic and gripping to the end. Neal Stephenson’s Snowcrash takes you on a wild post-modern ride….

I guess you could say I like sci-fi books lol. What about you? Any good recommendations?

@TH3R3P41RM4N Honestly, I deep-dived into classic sci-fi over the past year (and also loved Starship Troopers).

Neuromancer by William Gibson, Solaris by Stanislaw Lem, and Cat's Cradle by Kurt Vonnegut are at the top of my list.

I'm still exploring newer stuff, but I enjoyed Blindsight by Peter Watts (but could not get into the sequel).

@KKR I grabbed a sci-fi book called vagrant over the weekend. Seems like a post Apocalypse type world. Looking forward to reading it.
@TH3R3P41RM4N That one is on my reading list !
Finally finished Stranger in a strange land the other day - definitely one of my top reads. I'm a big e-book reader but buy physical copies of my "top-tier/favourites" so I think this one is gonna get a coveted spot on the bookshelf
@KKR its funny you say that because, I love paper books on my shelf, but I find that as I grow and changes, some of those books are barely looked at. I might aggressively downsize and take your approach of only adding "top-tier" books to my physical shelves. What's next on your list?
@TH3R3P41RM4N I put The Three Body Problem by Liu Cixin on my X-Mas wishlist, so likely that. Currently I've taken a break and am casually re-reading some Edgar Allen Poe stories.
