@pluralistic @geomblog It’s not that something (let’s say your tweet being removed) isn’t censorship, it’s that IT’S NOT ALSO going against your first amendment rights when it’s a private company saying, no.

This does not include hate speech, which is not protected.

The slippery slope we’re facing is how we’ve allowed a varied definition of what hate speech is.

@geomblog @pluralistic Not to mention that those who are more likely to scream falsely that their first amendment rights are being violated, are of the political spectrum that also see no irony in banning books.

This adds to the conflation between censorship, first amendment rights, and being offended.
