I rely heavily on process automation to manage communities at scale. One of my favorite 'no-code' tools for this is the open source #n8n (n8n.io) that connects different APIs.

The example below is for the 'featured row' on @blenderartists - once we have selected a candidate we put a link on a spreadsheet. This tasks picks up the artwork, crops it as it would appear on the site and sends a forum DM to the user so they have a chance to update their work in time.

A second automation will pick the next work to be featured from the spreadsheet, add the 'featured' tag to place it in our top row, share the work on all our social media channels and leaves a comment for this user.

This way we can schedule our features ahead of time, which means I only have to update this sheet 2-3 times in a week.

I do similar things for the #Sketchfab community, which allows us to manage a community of almost 10 Million members with a team of just 3.
