As the #Wedding2023 draws closer and closer I get those mini mindf*cks about changing my name. ^^ I am looking forward to it. Not so much to spending a sh*tload of money on a new ID card.
@Hobhouchin I like my married name at least as much as my maiden name, but... 17 years in and I still haven't fully gotten my name changed in every single place. Add to that the fact that I use my middle name rather than my first name, and I have 4 potential name combinations to remember when dealing with things like medical appointments or banking or government! Don't be me. Do it all at once, or don't do it at all, but don't do it halfway and get distracted!
@anniebeeknits I made lists but I have the feeling I forgot half the places that would need a name update. I can't explain without sounding mean to leave the last name behind I got from my father. It will always be a part of me but I also feel like it is time to change it.
@Hobhouchin From experience (though it may vary depending on where you are in the world): government documents first. Then banking documents. Then workplace stuff (payroll etc.) and ownership stuff (home, vehicle, etc., as appropriate). Then insurance stuff. Then... all the other things. Subscriptions, membership programs, etc. Mostly the same order of things you'd need to change if you moved, really.
@anniebeeknits This! Basically what I was going with, as well. Only changing the name tag on the letterbox / doorbell last - just in case. ;-)
Thank you for the input! It helps to organise the chaotic thoughts a little better.
