Seeking recommendations for good introductions to music theory. The book I am reading now touches on it, the major and minor scales and the chords that go with each key, but I would like a more in-depth intro I could read at home when I have my guitar in-hand. Thanks.

@patradio A college level music theory textbook? Or are you thinking something more “popular science” that is written for a general reader?
You might want to consider a jazz theory text. Jazz and pop music are so linked that some basic jazz theory will allow you to better understand any pop song.
