@godpod Because the price of her release was that Viktor Bout, the merchant of death, went free. And Griner was arrested in the first place because she broke the law. Not supporting or condemning.

@schfinkes @godpod How do you know she was set up? She pleaded guilty. She apologized for "her mistake". She said the drugs were there due to "hasty packing."

@b2run @schfinkes @godpod I honestly think the drugs were planted. It would not have been the first time. And if you were threatened with the gulag, which is far worse than any American prison (which are already horrific), you might try to lessen your punishment with a plea.

@cadenza @schfinkes @godpod It's possible but I don't see any evidence for it. Her attitude and confession seemed to say that she made a stupid mistake. She didn't even make that claim when she was released which would have been one of the first things I would have done.

Furthermore, the FSB isn’t going to provide you with “evidence”. You think you have access to all the facts from your armchair and that’s ridiculous.
