As for my favourite albums by Donald Byrd ... top is "Free Form", a lyrical masterpiece that seems to be overlooked too often, when folks talk Blue Note classics. Terrific band in stunning form.

Next up: "Electric Byrd", "Off to the Races", "Royal Flush" and "Kofi", I guess.

@Casura @jazz For nostalgic reasons Street Lady is it for me; I first heard it as a 13 year old at a garden party of my friend's parents in South London & had never heard anything like it before... only some years later did I get into jazz & remind myself of it but it had been in the back of my mind & I think (subconsciously) steered me towards #jazz (perhaps) six years later

My fav if Fancy Free. I like percussion-leaning quiet storm. Reminds me of Grover Washington rather than the, in my view quite pointless, Miles comparison.
