🤔 I can't remember any other prisoner exchange, hostage exchange, or POW exchange involving a US woman prisoner where there was this much negative sentiment of "It was her own fault!" or "But at what cost?"

No, I'm not interested in hearing theories or excuses as to why this might be.

@mekkaokereke I'm so glad she's home. She should have been home this whole time!
@mekkaokereke I think it was Russia's fault for invading Ukraine, which made everyone else turn against them, which made them strike back by picking on an American who just happened to be in the wrong place at the wrong time. I'm glad they got her out.
@mekkaokereke I’m glad she is finally home and yeah, we know why the negativity.
@mekkaokereke it’s infuriating. Would they have said that about Paul Whelan?
@mekkaokereke I've witnessed a number of prisoner exchanges like this, and it's clear to me that this particular deal is receiving more than the usual criticism, because Brittney is a black woman. If it had been Roger Federer, no one would have said a word.

@ecomaniac @mekkaokereke just *had* to boost this as a service to my #swissbubble and relatability and all...

(Hmm.. boosting as a service.. Do I smell a business opportunity?...)

@mekkaokereke The victim blaming is relentless, easy, and exhausting.

Somehow for some reason this gets way more scrutiny than similar or far more risky exchanges. I'm tired, and also not interested into theories and excuses as to why.

@mekkaokereke I don't care if she never plays basketball again. I Pray for her & her loved ones after this ordeal
@mekkaokereke I am glad she is out of that hell, they did the right thing.

@mekkaokereke

Amen! It's atrocious how people are negating her.

So glad she is free!!!!!
