I was told to boost every post I liked or identified with and follow those with interesting bios. I did this and now my home feed is pretty beefy.
I mainly stay in the Local feed since that is the server I picked and boost from there, but every so often I'll look through Federated if I have the time.
Just remember, you can always unfollow later if the person's posts don't bring you joy :-).
@RockyM I can't develop my bio without my username and password.
