Appreciated the brutal comparison in the article about how elite institution's relationship with their employees can often look like a bad upper-class marriage: "you’re nothing without me!"

It's kind of a shame readers feel as wedded to flagship institutions as their employee do; if they shopped around more (and paid for content!) I would think the media landscape would be so much more robust.
