Oh boy! I need to have everything setup so that I can conveniently and easily access shared folders from Google Drive on Linux. What's that? I have to pay $30 for a third party solution because Google only releases the desktop app for Mac and Windows?

What is even the point of Google's use of Linux if you can't use it with Linux?!

Lol. Maybe I should install Chrome OS Flex.

Naaaaaaaah!

The default drive app was pretty annoying anyway because they don't sync files for shared folders the way they used to. I can still access them on Windows just fine. I can even make backups. No sweat. but also if I have an outage I can't access that file anymore : /

Just, why?

TECHNICALLY I can do it through Cosmic DE in Pop OS but :/ It's too jank and unreliable.

Rclone docs for Google drive

Rclone
@AH3GA0 No. I'm really not interested in using something that's too heavily reliant on command line if I can help it. Decided to do a trial for insync instead to see if it suits my needs.

@Moondancer0X rclone may seem daunting at first with it being a CLI app but it's actually very simple to use. Pretty much hand-holding experience thanks to the configuration wizard.

In any case, if Insync or any other isn't to your liking, give rclone a try. There are many GUI for it out there. Most notably RcloneBrowser or even its built-in web GUI.

I don't use rclone for Gdrive but I use it for my OneDrive which I setup a simple read-only sync for my comics server.

RcloneBrowser

Simple cross platform GUI for rclone. Supports macOS, GNU/Linux, BSD family and Windows.

RcloneBrowser

@AH3GA0 I'll have to check this out later. What'll really make or break it for me is if I can properly access and modify the shared folders I have editor privs on.

Anyway, thank you!
