Me: spending 2.5 weeks processing and rendering an artwork using 12,000 photos
Artist using “AI”: I tried prompts for a couple hours and got some beautiful results which I touched up in photoshop…
Im the one wasting time and energy for sure…but here I am grinding away anyway.
@digitalcoleman i get and feel the frustration but then i imagine the eye rolling of a marble sculptor (; in the end these are all their own things with their own aesthetics and contexts and should be measured or appreciated accordingly (?)
@annaxmalina for sure, not throwing shade, but more questioning my own process...perhaps the way I work is out of date, becoming pointless...how will I be sure the work expresses something that cannot be obtained with less time and electricity? At least with the marble, I know it only happens because the time/process.

@digitalcoleman hmm...but a work of art is not necessarily about the end product. only if it was would it make sense to worry about that?

like: i can make digital photography that looks like analog, so theoretically analog photog. is obsolete. but only on the end result level. the process of analog photog. itself has still something else to offer. and the same goes for each technique, I'd say.

but i mean, of course it's always good to question one's own methods and needs.
