I know it seems appropriate (and probably is) to focus our sympathy/anger/activism during this cost-of-living crisis on the fact that loads of people are struggling with basic survival and essential services are falling apart BUT to me the tragedy is that the situation forces us to focus on basic survival and the expense of joy, higher actualisation, fun, and general silliness. This is the stuff that makes life worth living and it’s so sad to lose it or to feel guilty about ever minor indulgence
