What types of up and coming theoretical(ish) frameworks are you most excited about? Dynamical systems / RNNs? Topology? Network theory? Something else entirely?

I would like to see theories treating the entire brain as a dynamic system. Dissecting the brain functions region by region has its limits.

This might be possible for something like fly brain, with the connectome basically worked out. Coupled with good descriptions of the fly behaviors, it would be fascinating to see how neural dynamics in the brain as a whole support coherent behaviors.
