‘I'm not "living in fear of a cold." I'm putting effort into not catching a disease, the acute phase of which is an inconvenience, but the serious potential side effects of which are cardiovascular and neurological damage, and which has the potential to destroy the world economy.’

Love this quote via Canadian psychologist Jonathan Douglas aka @jonathanconp

@Daryltractor @jonathanconp not getting colds has been a nice side effect, though (even without fear).
@IPEdmonton @jonathanconp I have little kids so despite wearing a mask absolutely everywhere I’ve never been as sick as I have this year.

@Daryltractor @jonathanconp ...the acute phase can still be far more than "an inconvenience" if the odds are not in your favour.

Even if it isn't, no one can know (now) where the chains of transmission start...or end.

If it ends in someone vulnerable dying from the plague, eight people removed from Patient Zero, the person who is Patient Zero will never know it was them, and never know what they did.

But the anti-maskers don't like it when I ask, "Have you thought about how many people you've killed today? This week? Month? Year? Two years?"
