Last year, I got a free pre-lit xmas tree from someone who was discarding theirs for a new one. I had already put up our tree (also free, same situation, 5-6 years prior) for the season, so the "new" one went directly into the storage unit.

Fast forward to yesterday when I moved furniture (AKA created chaos) in the living room to put up the new tree, only to find out the top is missing. 😂 😩 😭

I'm going to double-check the storage unit to make sure it didn't fall out in there, but I'm half-tempted to leave it as-is for the year. It feels like a perfect metaphor for the utter discombobulation I feel this year, for no specific reason I can figure out.

I may also take this as a sign that attempting to do all the holiday shit while already feeling discombobulated is PROBABLY NOT THE BEST IDEA.

I'll dig my menorah out (it's at the bottom of the xmas ornament box, naturally), but maybe that's all the holiday decorating I'm capable of right now...
