@admin @DenisePouchet Costs at opencollective are less than Patreon (we also have patreon). I think it's 6%. so 0,94 lands here 🙂

I’m with the ‘buy local’ idea.. so I now only have ‘geef.nl’ in use.. but if opencollective really only charges 6% for a €1 contribution.. gotta look into that ;)

@admin @ruud when I signed up tonight, there was an option to add 15% for transaction fees.

I wasn't clear if those were PayPal fees or another entity, but I was happy to make my monthly donation €1.15

It will amuse me every month to see the change in my donation cost, which for me depends on the US $ value to the Euro €.

Would donating € 3 every three months not benefit @ruud more then € 1 every month?

@admin it should be the same in total donations that reach @ruud either way.

The math tracks evenly on his end of the equation. My actual costs vary based on the US $ value against the Euro €.

Above all else, I'm disabled on a very small fixed income from the US Federal government, SSDI, or Social Security Disability Income.

A small monthly donation is easier for me to budget.

Oh wait, I'm not criticizing the amount! I love it that people take the time & money to support those things they find that matter!

I'm juggling around with what is the best way to go with #micropayments!

Since here in 🇳🇱 #iDeal is the default.. but transactions cost around € 0,25 to make.. that would make a 25% loss in a € 1 donation..

No worries, I did not feel judged or challenged from your question, thank you for clarifying all the same.

Those who are able will hopefully make larger donations to their administrators.

My hope was to encourage others using Mastodon with my example - that even small monthly donations are possible and welcomed.

Almost 5am on the West Coast of the US. Up all night - time this Gal finally gets some sleep!
