If you wrote fiction set exclusively in the 60s-70s would you call yourself a writer of historical fiction?? Apparently that's technically correct, but if someone said they wrote historical fiction I'd think 1800s-1930s or maybe a bit later, so it feels off to me

That’s a really good point. If your market is readers under 25, a setting in the 1950s or 1960s is historical to them. Although I do like that term “Vintage Fiction” which is like a 0-50 year difference between today and the story setting. Great topic!
