i'm so happy i'm not from the u.s. bc i want to visit dprk so bad
being born in the u.s. is the biggest L one can take
@foxwayne being born in the dprk
@oooh_scary that sucks but i still believe the u.s. is worse to be born in🧍
@foxwayne even as a joke that's an extremely fucked up thing to say
@oooh_scary why tho? /gen
@foxwayne people get murdered by these governments. people here in the USA act like the chance they'll lose gay rights is the worst thing but guess what? in the place I was born there were no gay rights to lose. my grandmother lived in a "communist" (I know the USSR wasn't really communist but neither is the dprk) country and has told me all about what it was like in a gulag that she was sent to basically for being Jewish. people there barely have electricity and don't have heat in the winter
@foxwayne acting like being born in a rich western country is sooo hard because of some relatively minor social problems is EXTREMELY insensitive
@oooh_scary i didn't meant to imply that 😭 but you're right tho!!
@foxwayne I know you didn't, I'm not saying you're a terrible person or anything, just that it's important to remember how good you have it. people make mistakes dw
@oooh_scary important to point out i'm from brazil btw not the u.s. (!!)
@foxwayne F I'm originally from one of the poorest parts of Russia, specifically the altai republic
@oooh_scary @foxwayne the poor in the US are much worse off than the poor in other developed "western" nations, one isn't "privileged" because they were born here LMAO
@BeePeezy @foxwayne the poor in the US are one HELL of a lot better off than the poor in most of the world. no one in the USA has to work in a lithium mine with no PPE. no one in the USA needs to worry about local warlords coming to their village to conscript child soldiers. no one in the USA is worried about the DICTATOR of the country they live in deciding to declare a pointless genocidal war. the USAs conscription laws aren't written to only conscript certain ethnic groups.
@BeePeezy @foxwayne 40% of all the money IN THE WORLD is in the USA. As someone who has lived both here and in a poor part of the world, trust me, we have it EXTREMELY good.
@oooh_scary @foxwayne "among western developed nations"... The poor in the USA are also miserable and there's a lot to say about "privilege" if you can't recognize that millions of people living on the edge of destitution in the richest country in the world aren't lucky. Are the two million prisoners in the US privileged? Maybe class society causes suffering everywhere on the planet and it is insufferable to dismiss the poor in one country because others elsewhere have it worse
@BeePeezy @foxwayne I think you don't quite understand what I'm saying and I'm pretty sure that's not an accident
@oooh_scary @foxwayne you seem to be saying people don't get murdered by the US government and everyone is lucky to be here while accusing others of being privileged, which isn't too uncommon of a viewpoint but usually comes from a place of patriotism or ignorance

@BeePeezy @foxwayne minimum wage in the USA comes to about 1450 usd a month (in poor parts of the world wages are monthly not hourly) if you work 40hrs a week. usually higher, depends on the state.

in the place I was born, the same job would earn slightly less than 180. in a place where it's legal to beat your wife but not legal to be gay. and many parts of the world are even worse than that.

the USA is obviously FAR from perfect, but to act like living here is a hard life is just ridiculous

@oooh_scary @foxwayne 1450/mo is 17,400 a year, which a person cannot survive on in the US and is usually less than an emergency medical bill. Domestic violence is insanely widespread here and LGBTQ rights are not guaranteed, the country is currently moving down the path towards genocide of trans people. Do the thousands of addicts dying on the streets in my city have it easy? Or do they just deserve it?
@BeePeezy @foxwayne nvm you're a troll I should have noticed sooner. you win, but you should still touch grass.
