ch3rub.png 🧸@pentacles__ I don't know, theres a lot of catty old gays that dont support trans people. I think its more so that the community are just full of individuals. While finding commradery in identity would be great, it can be more difficult than that. There's a weird competition to be the most likeable by the cishets that doesn't help (respectability politics).
@pentacles__ Mind you, the respectability politics usually comes from the older generation and stems from self preservation. There's a lot of healing needed in this community from everyone before we can stop acting like this.

i seem to change this every month but my current running theory is that when you're in a local queer community there are visibly established, respected figures, and you have to behave yourself to retain your access to that community.
meanwhile in online spaces everybody is flattened into nondescription, you dont know where to apportion respect and have no incentive to give it, and can peel off into cliques if you decide you don't like someone...
so we get juvenile elephants
