It's alarming how much chatbot sounds like some LKML regulars - extremely confident, using plausible sounding language, almost always 100% wrong
@mjg59 I heard someone describe it as "automated mansplaining" and now I can't unsee it
@coregaze @mjg59 "Mansplaining as a service", but yes
@mjg59 if you removed some of the filters you would be able to entirely replace the phoronix forums already.
@mjg59 now I want to ask it why risc is faster than cisc...
@dotstdy @mjg59 Who would have thought that we need a techbro imitation machine so urgently, yet here we are...
@mjg59 turns out Hacker News was actually a time machine into an AI-driven future all along.
@PJB @mjg59 itym it turns out Hacker News was training data
@mjg59 apparently it was trained by human reviewers, maybe it was easier for them to score an answer based on form instead of fact checking it and it learned to sell whatever is plausible. I like how adamant it is about being a language model or ai assistant and not a person xD
@mjg59 Putting project Euler #1 into it really demonstrates that well. Took me a minute to figure out what fucked up.

@mjg59

AI sales bots incoming... they're coming for the least predicted job first it seems.
