It bears noting that the GOP tried this 18 years ago, too, and rather than grokking that running Alan Keyes against Barack Obama was fundamentally foolish, not to mention fundamentally insulting to Black voters—they actually went *harder* in 2022. https://www.cnn.com/2004/ALLPOLITICS/08/08/senate.illinois.keyes/index.html

The leadership of the Republican Party *honestly believes* that Black people will vote for any old Black candidate.

That they can put that Black candidate out there WITH WHITE HANDLERS ON BOTH SIDES—LITERALLY!!!—and Black people will vote for him, 'cause he's Black!

This is the same party that thought—GENUINELY THOUGHT—that American women would be "over Dobbs" by election day. Over it!
When your party is founded on & rooted in white supremacist patriarchy—when you drink & serve that Kool-Aid every. single. day—you're not going to wake up one day and suddenly have actual, genuine respect for all the people you spend your every last minute dehumanizing.
(Also worth remembering that you don't put Herschel Walker up if you have an ounce of respect for women, either. So he really was a twofer).
@emilylhauser Yeah no. Not over it. Will never be over it.
@emilylhauser AS IF! 😊
@PatB47 just seeing this - I think it's fair to suggest they may have underestimated us...!
@emilylhauser I hope the mad remains for awhile. More to do.
@PatB47 I think it will - it's been building for a long time
@emilylhauser regardless of my political affiliations and beliefs, I definitely would not have considered voting for the running back who has severe effects of repetitive mental trauma.
