He's caused so many self inflicted wounds in recent weeks, I am losing count of his stupid, and often hurtful, proclamations. In his latest bizarre statement he has told Jewish people to forgive Adolf Hitler. I cannot think of a more ghastly thing to say than to tell those of the Jewish faith to forgive the genocide of their people. There can be no forgiveness, nor should we ever forget the horrors brought on by the Nazi Party. ๐งต1/3
Some people may be tempted to think 'the holocaust was bad but it did not effect anyone other than the Jewish people'. If that were true it would still be worth never forgetting and always ensuring it never happens again. However, if you or anyone you know is of Russian blood, Jehova's witness, alcoholic, pacafist, Romany, of the LGBTQ+ community, was ever a prostitute, and yes, if you or anyone you know has physical or mental disability, then the Nazis imprisoned and murdered these people. 2/3
Mentally & physically disabled (plus people with hereditary diseases & the deaf) were targeted by the Nazis, who initially forced sterilisation, to ensure the long term purity of the Aryan race. Then they forced euthanasia, with over 100,000 disabled people being killed between 1933 and 1939. The Holacaust was the most dreadful of the Nazi atrocities, no doubt, but the other groups listed in 2/3 Inc. the disabled were also targeted & the nazis built their Reich on the blood of many. 3/3
