I don't have many friends, two or three, the most. Why? Because the psychopath that I used to call mom would intervene in EVERY relationship I had: friends, boyfriends, doctors, bosses, neighbors: EVERYBODY.

But she had plenty of very long friendships with people who always thought she was such a good woman.

One of those friends, a woman I knew since I was a toddler, found out what she was doing to me and my siblings and tried to talk to her about it. That was the end of the friendship right there.

But to the rest she was a saint. And a victim.

Bottom line: generalizations are the surest way to fail.
