The German word "Absätze" can mean
- sales
- heels
The German word "Wirtschaft" means
- pub
- economy

So, someone saying "Hohe Absätze sorgen für gute Laune in der Wirtschaft" either means that high sales figures lift the markets' mood - or he is a sexist barfly.

Enjoy our language!

@jensclasen While my German is clearly better than when I moved here (4ish years ago) it remains a challenge. A challenge I'm happy to take on, but a challenge nevertheless.
@jensclasen Google Translate combines the possibilities in the Dutch translation.😂

@jensclasen „Absätze“ also means
- paragraphs (as in documents)
- landings (between flights of stairs)

So, someone saying „Hohe Absätze sorgen für gute Laune in der Wirtschaft.“ either means that well structured documents improve your superior’s mood - or he is a sarcastic drunkard, toppling down the stairs to the restrooms.

@arnoldnuehm @jensclasen I'm wondering, how a paragraph can be high. It can be “too high” as in „Der dritte Absatz war mir zu hoch.“ (“The third paragraph was to difficult for me.”) but “high”?
@jensclasen die Schuhbranche soll zuweilen ja auch Absatzprobleme haben
@jensclasen The German word "Wirtschaft" could also mean "mess".
@rkainers @jensclasen Austrian German? (Never heard of that.)
@jensclasen Absätze could also mean paragraphs of text …
@jensclasen These two options explicitly do not exclude each other 😂👠📈
