So I used to be poly and a philosophy major in the bay area and I ran into so many fucking effective altruists. One told me I'd have a bigger impact on humanity if I went into ed tech and developed a program touching millions a tiny bit rather than being a preschool teacher and directly influencing children significantly everyday. ("The kids won't even remember it" he said)

Anyway the ftx meltdown is very funny to me.

I don't want to argue with any effective altruists, save your energy.

@Alyshelchi I am all for great preschool teachers. As a middle school teacher, we get kids years behind and can't teach them at all. I blame elementary school teachers. Elementary school teachers blame those that came before also.

Preschool teachers might be the only ones who can save education.

Please help us. Secondary teachers can't work any harder than they do. This is why we leave the profession.

@KerryBeeBlue my sister is a secondary school teacher and burning out on the work she loves. I like to think I was a pretty great preschool teacher but right now I'm too disabled to work. I am raising my infant daughter the best I can though, and my dream is to eventually be able to return to the classroom.
