So, today I learned that we should not deactivate our Twitter accounts, because in 30 days, anyone can spoof them. So the recommendation is #LockAndLeave. Lock down the account to prevent new followers, make a tweet stating your info on Mastodon, and then log out and just abandon the account. So I reactivated, and did that.
@antimagaglitterbomb I have mine locked. I'm try to wean off.

@antimagaglitterbomb I'd heard the same but don't care about my account.

Also read that keeping the account alive costs ElNo money. Also keeps someone from taking over a 10 year old semi-active account.

I have edited my profile to make it clear I moved and enabled 2FA. My account shall remain dormant.

@antimagaglitterbomb why does leaving twitter have to be a thing?
@uwakifiok It's a personal choice. I chose to leave. I don't want to spend time in a space where Nazi, Nazi sympathizer, and anti-semitic rhetoric are embraced by the owner of the platform. He is free to allow what he wants, in the name of free speech. I am free to minimize my exposure to it.
@uwakifiok I also don't want to engage on the site, where my "metrics" would benefit the owner. I refuse to contribute in any way that helps a Nazi-friendly platform make money.
@antimagaglitterbomb also, I would like to understand the nazi friendlyness of the owner. Tell me exactly how he’s nazi friendly maybe I might just plan my exit too.

@uwakifiok He is reinstating previously banned accounts of known neo-Nazis because of "free speech." I disagree that Nazi propaganda should be considered free speech. In my opinion, that makes him Nazi-friendly.

Also, he does this under the guise of free speech, but if he truly cared about free speech, he wouldn't be banning people who are making fun of him.

I do not think a widely-used platform like Twitter needs to be giving Nazis a place to amplify their message.

@antimagaglitterbomb ok cool. 100% choice but if one consumes too much of one sided view, it begins to blur out images n one might just lose touch of actual reality. Balance is key.

Like someone might be suffering, but since he doesn’t see anyone enjoying, he begins to think suffering is normal.

I don’t support anti semitism or any of sort by I’m just saying generally.

@uwakifiok There is a difference between having rational conversations with people who have different views and tolerating Nazi propaganda. There is no reasonable consideration of "other views" when it comes to Nazism. I prefer to find my balance away from toxic environments.

@antimagaglitterbomb help me with the nazis.

There really must be so much going on that I don’t know about.

@antimagaglitterbomb

I’ve been using Movetodon.org to try and locate my people from Twitter so I didn’t want to kill my account but I haven’t posted an rarely log in.

@kbsez In the end, I did cancel my account, because I was not a big account. I didn't want to be on there at all anymore. So I did end up deactivating it for good.
