He literally suggested chucking out parts of the Constitution to reinstall himself in office based on election fraud conspiracy theories.

How is this man not in fucking prison?

At the beginning, people laughed at me for thinking he was dangerous. They thought the people supporting him were funny for falling for some clown from a TV show.

Have we yet reached the point where we recognize how actually dangerous this has all become or nah? Still just the boiling frog in the gradually simmering pot of re-emerging facism? Or do we still think this is all some big joke and he’s the lead clown?

Because I stopped laughing a long long time ago.

@ambercadabra I'll never forget HuffPo classifying his candidacy as "entertainment" for those first few months. People were just so convinced that he couldn't actually be serious.

@jaredwsmith yep. A relative voted for him as a joke.

It’s all hilarious until it’s not.

@ambercadabra I think this is what his followers actually want. I don't think the fascism scares them, because they believe his brand of fascism protects them from "those people."

He's scary as fuck, to be sure. But I have seen the lust for his fascism. I had a guy tell me that he is fine with violating the Constitution, so long as it is in a way that he gets something out of it.

It's truly incredible.

@ambercadabra saaaame. Nobody took this tool seriously, nobody wanted to rock the boat, and they're still afraid to just cuff him and stuff him, despite having all the probable cause you could ever ask for.
@ambercadabra I was another early screamer that he was significantly more dangerous than most people thought he was, either due to his supreme stupidity or limitless ego. I don’t think even the most concerned of is could’ve imagined the amount of GOP complicity that followed- the depravity of greed has been startling. And yeah, I fear for our very existence as a nation.
@ambercadabra he started a violent coup and faced literally no sanction. It’s no surprise at all that he’s now doubling down.
@NeilEvansRocks I don’t understand why the process against him hasn’t moved faster. I know they need an iron clad case but meanwhile all this stuff just keeeeeppsss goinggggg
@ambercadabra I agree. This should have been simple. But here we are, it just makes me want to scream with rage. We’re marching toward fascism world wide and the media and the liberal center seem to be just standing around kicking the can about waiting for it to arrive.

@NeilEvansRocks I can’t help but wonder what sort of delusion keeps people explaining every bit of this away with some new excuse or rationalization. How do you not just stand and look at all of this agape with horror? Rage? Anger? Fear?

How do people stare this down calmly and shrug?

@ambercadabra I wish I knew: I think maybe because for non-political people life just goes on: it doesn’t ‘concern them’, the media downplay it or argue both sides for entertainment… it’s proving that poor civic engagement since the Reagan years has hurt civil discourse, trump is a symptom, antivaxxers are a symptom, while areas voting against their own interests is a symptom. It’ll take time to fix this.
@ambercadabra When he doesn't make it on to the ballot in most states for the primaries he will use this as a rally cry to declare the GOP as globalist blah blah. Realizing that the final page is coming for him the cries for violence will be louder and more open than ever.
