I got to admit, some of the Mastodon clients are doing some clever stuff. There are definitely things we built at Twitter I miss, but there are also some little useful touches that I wish we built. Metatext’s timeline gap button–loading posts either upward or downward depending on scroll position/direction.

@bhaggs Yes! This is such a nice feature. Obvious once you use it for the first time, and hard to imagine it working any other way.

@yoyoel It’s really one of those—“oh, why didn’t I think of this?”. It at least makes me feel like there are some subtle quality of life UI improvements still out there to be made.

@yoyoel @bhaggs I think I remember proposing this st least once and being told it would be too confusing by PMs and/or would interfere with ad serving.
