I thought I asked an important question for all #writers today - especially given this is #MastodonWorld , especially given we are claiming this to be a platform that breaks down barriers between people of all #nations or #denominations , or #identifications . But no one answered. If you're #publishing in another country and buy your own books from the #publisher , can you avoid paying duty when they go through #customs ? @bookstodon #writing #WritingCommunity #internationalpublishing
@SharonBergAuthor Cntd. (2).... Your publisher is most likely all set up to handle intl. distribution and marketing. Letting them take care of the business side of things is probably your best bet. Though you own the work with respect to Int. Property, you are still looking at importing a tangible good from another country and therefore subject to taxes and duties. Please check with CBSA in your province. Hope some of the above helps.
