I'd completely forgotten I was identifying as an anarcha-feminist for a while years ago until I came across an old bio recently. I think I stopped because the specificity kind of bothered me, same way I was IDing as bi for a while before that felt too confining and I went back to queer?

But the current anti-feminist backlash is REALLY making me want to very clearly lead with "I'm a feminist (and not the liberal type)" in a lot more contexts.

@idzie
I've probably not paid enough attention, but are you referring to anti-feminist sentiments in leftist spaces? I had thought people here would be all in on that shit given what Mexican anarcha-feminists have been up to and the firebombing of anti-abortion offices. Are people being overbroad in their condemnation of white liberal feminism and just circling back to reactionary talking points?

@Helmic I think the backlash exists both in the mainstream and leftist and anarchist spaces. You would think that, wouldn't you, and instead there's a bunch of manarchists that sound like gamer-gaters.

I'm inclined to think it's less about accidentally making too broad a condemnation of white liberal feminism, and more that a claim that's what their problem is is used as a screen for their existing misogynistic and anti-feminist views. @RiotLinguistics has a way better handle on where it's coming from than I do though!

@Helmic @idzie i'm currently way too pissed off to speak in very civil or careful terms about it tbh. i want to burn a motherfucker

@RiotLinguistics wholly understandable, friend ❤️

I've been spending less time on social media lately because I'm dealing with too much stressful stuff IRL, but any time I venture on I start to long for the flames...

(Which isn't to say my IRL is free of misogyny obviously!! Just that online lately it seems to be all gathered together, distilled, and being poured directly into my brain)
