I wrote a how-to on moving from Twitter to Mastodon aimed at regular folks, so I had to gloss over a lot of details. Feel free to share it with the non-technical people in your lives that want to get away from Twitter https://zapier.com/blog/twitter-to-mastodon/
How to move from Twitter to Mastodon | Zapier

Here's how to move from Twitter to Mastodon, including how to find all your Twitter friends on Mastodon.

@mathowie oooh this is great. Thank you! I tweeted it as a reply to my “goodbye, Twitter” tweet.
@mathowie this is civic action at its finest. ❤️👏🏻
@mathowie very helpful article, thx!
@mathowie Nice article, thank you! I really like Mastodon so far 😊
@mathowie boosted on Twitter, thanks. We need more plain-language explanations of “instances” like this one!
@timoh77 Welkom, misschien is deze behulpzaam?
@mathowie Thank you for sharing this, Matt.
@mathowie Thanks for the article. Moved over 50 accounts today.
@mathowie Very useful. Also, I think one of the main things regular folks need to be told is that you can start with Mastodon without dumping Twitter; it's not mutually exclusive. If people know they can try it, grow to like it or not, and then decide which of the two or both they want to keep, it will reduce the friction tremendously.

@mathowie
Super helpful, will be sharing.

BTW, this: account verification is different
...might warrant more info, especially given the ongoing verification shenanigans at FB & Tweeterville...?

@mathowie do you have any recommendations for what to use now since movetodon lost api access?
@lia I think @andybaio posted a new one on his links a couple weeks ago.
Mastodon Flock

Migrate your tweeps to the Fediverse

@andybaio @mathowie @lia I went through the apps available for finding Twitter peeps weeks ago - https://github.com/pronoiac/mefi.social/blob/main/finding_twitter_people.md
I think Flock was glitchy on my Hometown server, so check out its advanced mode or the alternatives

@pronoiac @mathowie @lia you should try Flock again, the author pushed changes for Hometown compatibility
@andybaio @mathowie @lia I confirmed, and updated my docs. Thanks! 🎉
@andybaio @mathowie thanks so much, it worked perfectly for me + the retro windows look took me right out
@mathowie This is a great explainer. I’ve bookmarked it to share with friends who are still on Twitter.
