“I’m going to stay and fight”

No you’re not. It isn’t a battleground. It is owned by one man who will do what he likes as long as he can and he’s able to continue to do so because you are creating statistics he is using to sell ad space and make it look like the platform is more active than ever.

You are enabling him, even with your “fighting.” Wake up. That’s what he wants. It HELPS him. You’re literally working for the man free of charge. #birdsite #twitter #TwitterMigration

@godlessmom UM... THIS!
@wiseguyeddie @godlessmom just started to post the same. Yes, this. A thousand times this.
@statmonkey 🙂 👍
@wiseguyeddie @statmonkey Abandoning #Twitter is just the first big step. We also need to write to Twitter users who represent public offices (schools, Congress, gov agencies, etc) & tell them they are disserving the public by using a private walled-garden instead of a publicly accessible microblog.
@statmonkey @wiseguyeddie Public radio too. E.g. #NPR (National *Public* Radio) has a Twitter account not a #fedi account. NPR should receive a flood of complaints about that, ideally outside of #Twitter.

@aktivismoEstasMiaLuo @wiseguyeddie @statmonkey

Yes...and where is the @ POTUS acct here...right?

@kahyrn @statmonkey @wiseguyeddie Indeed. Note that if #AndrewYang had been made #POTUS, then the POTUS would be in the #fedi :) Yang is the only political candidate I’ve seen in the fedi.

Interesting...it is an evolution (of sorts) for people

Back on BlogSpot.com in the mid 1990s one had to not only sign up but do some site configuration in HTML

These places made it blogging for dumb-ees with not much to do to get involved while also curbing the ability to *speak* with a senseless "character limit"
Popular non-the -less

It takes time to get a new evolution...am I right?

@kahyrn @wiseguyeddie @statmonkey I don’t think there is a char limit in the #fedi. Char limits are implementation specific & often just an overridable default. Some Mastodon nodes allow posts that will fill your screen. I think clients are behind the times. Clients don’t equip users for how to deal with huge toots. I hope that evolves.

@aktivismoEstasMiaLuo @wiseguyeddie @statmonkey

This place has 500 charc limit without add a post feature as basic offer

ME is not (at this point) a Techie on *nodes* or how to over ride defaults to at least get a few more lines - should that be necessary to complete a thought

@aktivismoEstasMiaLuo @wiseguyeddie @statmonkey

ME has re-created ME former site PERIPETIA here:

KahrynM.blogspot.com

For longer posts & inform on a topic, sometimes with book snippets for background notes of explanation.

Most readers tho' are not into more than a paragraph or 2 these days.

& Try re-watching 2001 A Space Odyssey these days. You might *scream* waiting for anything to happen as it all takes place in such painfully slow cinematic slow-de-motion compared to today.

@aktivismoEstasMiaLuo @kahyrn @statmonkey @wiseguyeddie Actually an odd but interesting idea that Governments could have their own federated servers for the Government accounts. Things move slow but If the people arent there to receive POTUS messaging then they will work other venues to connect to the people.
@Lucky188 @wiseguyeddie @statmonkey @kahyrn The @EU_Commission uses social.network.europa.eu, which is controlled by an EU data protection authority, IIUC. So the EU seems to be leading the way on this. Hopefully it gets traction in the US.

ME thinks they are "On To" Elmo as well!
A smack down of that smug twerp would be GRAND!
