I still haven't got round to figuring out how this works, or trying to transfer all the people I'm following on Twitter, but it's nice to see a few familar faces round here already! It looks like we get a few more words to play with, which is an excellent thing, because I'm not very good at being concise. I'm hoping there'll be a bit less attitude over here. I like the whole counter culture mood. How's everyone else finding it?
@IsabelBest Very chill and wonderful so far. Don't forget that this relatively small site managed to put in an edit button whereas twitter couldn't do it all these years. I also very much appreciate the extra words as thoughts can be more full formed.
@tmstreet An edit button for typos is a nice thing:-) So long as people don't muck around with it and rephrase what they said earlier to sound better later on... I like the principle of a conversation where you have to own what you said (and maybe think a bit more before you put words out into the world). I also quite liked the need for concision which is a good writing exercise, especially for me! But the risk is everything becomes too hard and direct and maybe a bit pompous.
@IsabelBest I use it for grammatical errors and typos only, for fwiw.
@IsabelBest Hi there! I'm told it's chilly in Paris...
@anthonybarnett We're definitely in the sleety darkest days, I'd be happy if we got proper snow though, which some weather forecasts are predicting. About 10 years ago the canals used to freeze over, which looked spectacular, especially at night. How are things in Oxford?
@IsabelBest any chance that we see you on blsky?
@IsabelBest Hi, I’ve just followed you here from X (where I follow you). I’m also a cycling enthusiast in France …
