This hypocrisy and callousness is truly shameful. We don’t have to live like this.

US politicians enjoy universal healthcare—but vote NO to universal healthcare for workers.

US politicians enjoy living wages—but vote NO to living wages for workers.

US politicians enjoy paid sick leave—but vote NO to paid sick leave for workers.

We need and demand better. Vote OUT anti-worker politicians. Vote in public servants committed to justice above all else.

@QasimRashid Absolutely. We truly need universal healthcare in this nation, and sick leave shouldn't be something you accrue. It should be available if you're sick, pure and simple. It's better to stay home when you're sick. That lessens the spread of infectious diseases, and it makes workers more productive overall.
@goodreedAJ @QasimRashid
Absolutely. Let's call out politicians from both parties here. We need to be specific. There is a reason why democrats are struggling to win against such a horrifically flawed republican party. When presented with a clear opportubity, they are not standing up for the working class. I'm talking about Joe Biden and Nancy Pelosi. It's time to be real and own this.

@jadarling @QasimRashid

A big part of the problem is that our healthcare system is tied to work, and it shouldn't be. That was a concession that FDR made to get the GOP to pass the New Deal. Healthcare should be a critical service available to all (without fear of financial ruin) no matter their employment status or their wealth or status.

The Democrats tried to start to address this through the ACA as a starting point, not an end point. Their intention was to build on the ACA foundation.

@goodreedAJ @QasimRashid
I agree it's about building a foundation. And part of thst foundation needs to be, when given a choice between supporting Berkshire Hathaway and their shareholders or working class railroad workers, you side with the railroad workers. Every* Time*. That is the political foundation. Otherwise I don't want democrats thinking they deserve the working class vote.
Thanks for your thoughts Ande. Have a great day.
